Marc's Fat Loss Secret #8 - Eat More, Weigh Less

When we starve ourselves, we get fatter. The physiology of it has been known for years. Rapid fat loss alerts your body’s potent defences of its energy reserve. It immediately increases the quantity of an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase. Lipoprotein lipase starts grabbing every molecule of fat, even stopping your body from using it for energy. You have to burn your own muscle to make up for the deficit. And now that you have less muscle than when you started it’s harder to fight off the fat. Finally, when you do succumb to real food, lipoprotein lipase has become so strong that it puts back six weeks of weight loss back in as many days! Net result: no change in body fat and a big loss of muscle.

You will ingest and assimilate the nutrients you need. Limited amounts of stomach enzymes are available at once so eating a large meal is not efficient. Vitamins and minerals will be eliminated and any extra calories that are not needed at that time will be stored as fat.

What to snack on? Bring a bag of trail mix, fresh fruit and vegetables, or an extra sandwich to work. Or make a shake the night before. They are nutritious, easy to prepare and easy to enjoy between meals. Be creative! Make use of fresh strawberries, blueberries (or frozen berries), applesauce and bananas. You can remove at any time, shake or mix briefly, and enjoy. Here are some examples:

Shake #1
1 cup skim milk, 1 scoop whey powder, 1 banana & 1 tablespoon peanut butter. Mix well and chill.

Shake #2
1 cup soy milk, 1 scoop whey powder, 1 cup fresh berries & 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil. Mix well and chill.
