Marc's Fat Loss Secret #9 - Being Lean in Two Easy Steps

Step 1. Strength Train

STRENGTH TRAINING IS CRITICAL IN WEIGHT MANAGEMENT. Many women have the misconception that strength training will make them look like Arnold. The reality is that women don’t have enough of the hormone testosterone to develop the kind of muscle bulk a man can. Even for men, a lean and muscular body requires progressive strength training sessions, aerobic exercise, optimal nutrition and patience. Women end up looking smaller when they gain lean muscle and lose body fat. In fact, the harder they work at strength training, the tighter and trimmer their muscles become.

Study after study proves it. A typical study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared the body fat of sedentary women against those who exercised aerobically and women who do resistance exercise. Results showed:

Sedentary women, 21.8% body fat
Aerobic exercisers, 16.2% body fat
Resistance exercisers, 14.7% body fat.

Lean body tissue weighs more than fat, but looks better and burns, rather than stores, the calories you intake.

Muscle is the health engine! In the mid-eighties, a vital clue to the right exercise for lifelong health was uncovered by research in biochemistry. Biochemists established that all cell replication in the immune system, and therefore all immune strength, is dependent on the availability of the amino acid glutamine. Your immune system needs lots of it. Immune cells cannot make glutamine. Only muscle cells can do the job. So your muscles have to supply large amounts of glutamine to your immune system every day in order to maintain it.

Step 2. Make Cardio fun!

At fuel we have many high energy and FUN Cardio classes like BOXING and SPINNING! Consistent aerobic activity changes the chemistry of your muscles by increasing the number of fat burning enzymes! This will change the chemistry of you muscles in a way that will effect a significant increase in fat burning during the entire day! Gradually increasing workout time and/or intensity will help you reach your goals sooner.

Tip: Set your thermostat at 68 degrees in winter. You will get used to the temperature and your metabolism will increase by as much as ten percent. You will burn extra fat over the course of the winter.
